The grim discovery was made this morning at around 7am when a passer-by spotted the man lying motionless on the ground just off Florence Road.
Gardai are investigating the man's death but initial indications are that it is not suspicious.
Last December a homeless man in his 30's was found dead in the doorway of a shop after a night of severe cold.
Mr Doyle, who suffered from mental health and addiction problems, had been sleeping rough for more than a year but was preparing to move into a local supported housing programme run the by the Five Loaves homeless centre when he died.
In January this year the bodies of John "Little Elvis" Glennon (67) and Debbie McEvoy (63), a former nurse from Newry, Co Down, were found huddled together at a Drumalee Court flat in Stoneybatter, north Dublin.
Although they both suffered from health problems, they died from hypothermia.
Alcoholism was cited as a factor in the death of Mr Glennon, who only relied on an electric heater after switching off the gas supply to his home several years earlier.
And in February the combination of alcohol and freezing cold claimed another life when 38-year-old Polish man, Sebastian Lis, was found frozen to death outside his home in Dublin's north side.
A post-mortem conducted on his body revealed he died from hypothermia and alcohol consumption.
Mr Lis's body was discovered lying on the pavement near his accommodation on Church Avenue in Drumcondra by friends.
