Man killed after group of men armed with weapons enter his home and attack him

A MAN WHO was attacked by a group of men who entered his home early this morning has died from his injuries.

The man was seriously injured when a group of men entered his home in Cork and attacked him and his wife.

It is believed that shortly after 3am this morning, a number of men with weapons entered the man’s house in Ballincollig, Co Cork and seriously assaulted the man and his partner.

The injured couple were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment.

The man’s injuries were described as very serious. Gardaí have confirmed that he has since died from his injuries. A post-mortem is due to be carried out.

The woman – aged in her 30s – did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

There was another woman as well as two young children aged under six in the house at the time of the incident. They were uninjured.

The house is currently preserved for a technical examination. A car was found burnt out a number of kilometres away in Waterfall and this scene is also being preserved for a technical examination.
